Change Default Search Engine:
- Click on the three vertical dots again and select "Settings".
- Scroll down to the "Search engine" section.
- Click on "Search engine used in the address bar" and select a different search engine like Google.
Reset Chrome Settings (Optional):
- In Chrome settings, scroll down to the bottom and click on "Advanced".
- Scroll down further to "Reset and clean up".
- Click on "Restore settings to their original defaults" and confirm.
Check for Malware:
- It's possible that malware might have caused the Yahoo search to be set as default. Consider running a reputable anti-malware program.
Clear Browsing Data (Optional):
- In Chrome settings, navigate to "Privacy and security".
- Click on "Clear browsing data" and select the appropriate time range. Make sure "Search engines" is selected.
Check for Unwanted Software:
- Go to your computer's control panel or settings and uninstall any programs that you don't recognize or that seem suspicious.
Restart Chrome:
- Close and reopen Chrome to ensure the changes take effect.
Verify Search Engine Settings:
- Go back to Chrome settings and ensure that the default search engine is set to your preference.
Use Chrome Cleanup Tool (Optional):
- Chrome has a built-in tool that can help clean up unwanted software. You can access it by typing "chrome://settings/cleanup" in the address bar.
Remember, it's always a good practice to regularly review your extensions and installed programs to ensure they're safe and necessary.
